Felician University Online MA in Counseling Psychology (MACP)
Felician University offers two online counseling psychology programs: a master of arts in counseling psychology (MACP) and a master of arts in counseling psychology (MACP) with a forensic track. Both programs are designed for students who want flexible online study, supervised field experience, and preparation for counseling careers.
The programs share a common 60-credit structure, practical training through practicum and internship, and a strong focus on counseling theory, ethics, assessment, and multicultural practice. Students can study full-time or part-time, and the programs offer three start dates each year. Both tracks also emphasize Franciscan values, field placement support, and preparation for work in a variety of counseling settings.
The MA in counseling psychology is a 60-credit online program that prepares students for licensure and careers in mental health. It combines core counseling courses with practicum and internship experiences, and it offers elective choices in areas such as spirituality, mindfulness, substance abuse, and work with children, adolescents, and older adults. Important courses include introduction to counseling; psychopathology; professional issues and ethics; two counseling internships; multicultural perspectives in counseling; marital and family counseling; and a clinical practicum.
The MA in counseling psychology-forensic track is a 60-credit online program designed for students who want to work with offenders or victims in justice-related settings. It focuses on forensic counseling, criminal behavior, forensic assessment, and the connection between counseling and the legal system. Important courses include counseling and the legal system; criminal behavior; forensic assessment; traumatic stress disorder; techniques of counseling and appraisal; and two counseling internships.
The shared curriculum includes courses such as developmental models of personal growth; techniques of counseling and appraisal; theories of personality and counseling; vocational and career development; groups: theory and practice, and assessment and treatment planning. Both programs require 100 practicum hours and more than 600 internship hours. Field placement support is available, and students complete hands-on learning near their own communities.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, submit a resume, a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation, and meet the minimum GPA requirement of 3.0, although applicants with 2.75 and above may also be considered. The university reviews applicants with a 2.75 GPA holistically. Students from all states except California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, and Ohio may apply, and enrollment does not guarantee licensure.
