Methodist University offers 100 percent online coursework through a BS in psychology with a counseling/clinical psychology concentration and an MS in clinical mental health counseling designed for working adults.

The online BS in psychology: counseling/clinical psychology concentration is a 124-credit program designed to be completed in 3.5 years with eight-week terms that accepts up to 93 transfer credits. Students study abnormal psychology, human development, and clinical skills through courses including lifespan human development; psychological counseling; abnormal psychology; and psychological tests and measurements. Graduates pursue roles such as assistant behavior analyst, case manager, psychiatric technician, rehabilitation specialist, or school counselor.

The online MS in clinical mental health counseling is a 61-credit program designed to be completed in two years that prepares students for licensure exams and clinical practice. Students learn counseling theories, ethical issues, diagnostics, and treatment planning through courses including theories and models of counseling; research and statistical analysis in counseling; cultures and counseling; and addiction counseling, plus a practicum and two internships. The program meets CACREP standards.

Admission to the BS program requires a completed application, a high school diploma or GED, and unofficial transcripts. Admission to the MS program requires a completed application, a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a recommended 3.0 GPA, official transcripts, three professional references, an updated resume or CV, and a one- to two-page statement of purpose.
