Texas A&M International University serves as a cultural and intellectual hub, serving more than 7,800 students with high-quality programs and offering the online master of science in school counseling program.

This 100 percent online program, with seven-week courses and six start dates each year, helps teachers transition to school counseling roles through flexible study. It prepares students for the TExES School Counselor exam and for Texas Education Agency certification criteria by applying counseling theories, ethical practices, and leadership skills in multicultural settings. Students complete practicums in their current school while working full-time, with no thesis required.

The online MS in school counseling is a 48-credit program that can be completed in 16 months. It trains professionals to handle educational, behavioral, social, and family challenges for K-12 students and families through courses including school counseling; counseling the culturally diverse; crisis intervention in the school setting; and two school counseling practicums.

Admission requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, a valid Texas teaching certificate, a minimum 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours, two years of teaching experience, and official transcripts from all institutions attended.
