The University of Denver is a private research university that emphasizes exploration through research and collaboration to advance inclusion and global impact. The university’s Morgridge College of Education offers the online master of arts program in school counseling. The Morgridge College of Education has been serving future scientists, leaders, and educators for more than 100 years.

This CACREP-accredited program trains school counselors to meet the academic, career, and emotional needs of diverse students through skill development, self-reflection, and data-driven programs. Fully online with no on-campus graduation requirements, it features live weekly HD video classes, mock counseling sessions, and 24/7 access to resources via desktop or mobile. Students complete a 100-hour practicum, a 600-hour internship at a local school, and an optional Denver immersion. This immersion may include two in-person synchronous residencies.

The online MA in school counseling requires 60 credits and can be completed full-time in 22 months or part-time. It focuses on educational systems, counseling concepts, identity issues such as power and privilege, and advocacy through courses including counseling youth and families; school counselors’ interventions; counseling for trauma, crisis, & grief; and gender & sexuality.

Admission requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, two letters of recommendation, a current resume, unofficial transcripts from all postsecondary institutions, an application fee, and a statement of professional goals. GRE scores are not required for admission, and international applicants must complete a US-based practicum or internship for licensure.
