Indiana Tech Addiction Counseling & Counseling Psychology Programs
Indiana Institute of Technology offers two online counseling-focused options: a bachelor of science program in addictions counseling and the counseling psychology graduate certificate. These programs are designed for students seeking practical training in the helping professions, counseling, and behavioral health.
Both programs emphasize applied learning, professional skills, and preparation for real-world work. The undergraduate degree is offered online with internships and coursework in psychology, counseling, and human services. The graduate certificate builds master ’s-level knowledge through online coursework in writing, counseling theory, multicultural psychology, and psychopathology.
The BS in addictions counseling prepares students for entry-level work in substance use and addiction recovery. The program includes courses such as drugs and addictions; addictions theory and counseling skills; helping relationships; crisis management in human services; and three psychology addictions internship experiences. Students also gain knowledge in ethics, case management, human growth and development, and recovery strategies.
The counseling psychology graduate certificate is a 12-credit online program for students who want to expand their knowledge in counseling psychology. Important courses include writing in psychology; multicultural counseling; advanced counseling theory; psychopathology; and research methods in psychology. The program focuses on APA-style writing, psychological disorders, diversity, and counseling approaches.
Admission requirements differ by level. Undergraduate applicants must complete the application for admission and provide the required documents, and they must have a high school diploma, GED, or HSE. Graduate certificate applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5, and complete the graduate division application package. Two years of significant work experience is preferred for the graduate certificate.
