Regent University Online Master’s in Counseling
Regent University is a private Christian university offering associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from a Christian perspective in more than 150 areas, including counseling. The university provides online MA programs in clinical mental health counseling, human services, school counseling, marriage, couple & family counseling, and pastoral counseling.
Courses across programs are taught from a Christian worldview by faculty in Virginia Beach and beyond. Online counseling master’s programs offer flexible pacing options to accommodate personal and professional schedules. The clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and marriage, couple & family counseling programs require two on-campus one-week residencies and hands-on fieldwork, such as practica and internships.
The CACREP-accredited MA in clinical mental health counseling is a 60-credit program offered online with residencies, preparing students for licensure. It teaches counseling models with biblical principles for emotional and mental disorders, crisis, and trauma through courses including orientation to the counseling profession; counseling skills & techniques; crisis, trauma & clinical mental health; and an internship in clinical mental health counseling.
The MA in human services is a fully online, 30-credit, non-licensure program. It equips students with practical helping skills in Christian counseling, addictions, biblical counseling, mediation, and more through courses such as behavioral science foundations; professional ethics in the human service fields; helping skills & techniques; and field experience.
The online MA in school counseling is a 60-credit licensure-eligible program with required residencies. This CACREP-accredited program is equipped for K-12 counseling roles through courses including counseling children & adolescents; principles of school counseling; program development & evaluation for school counselors; and internship in school counseling.
The MA in marriage, couple & family counseling is a 60-credit CACREP-accredited program online with residencies to pursue LMFT licensure. It focuses on family systems and relationship health through courses such as concepts of family systems; marital & couple therapy; models of family therapy; and an internship in marriage, couple & family counseling.
The MA in pastoral counseling is a 30-credit non-licensure program offered fully online. It provides biblically centered tools for ministry roles through courses including professional ethics in the human service fields; helping skills & techniques; addictive behaviors & substance abuse; and field experience.
Admission to all master’s programs requires a BA or BS from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA in undergraduate coursework. Desirable fields include counseling, psychology, or human behavior, but others are considered.
Regent University is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
