LeTourneau University Online MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling
LeTourneau University offers one online counseling program: the master of arts (MA) in clinical mental health counseling. This program is designed for students who want counseling training grounded in Christian values and professional preparation.
The program is built around ethical practice, clinical skills, research, wellness, and work with diverse populations. It is offered fully online, and it includes coursework, practicum, and internship experiences that prepare students for licensure and professional practice.
The master of arts in clinical mental health counseling is a 66-credit program. Important courses include counseling skills and techniques; ethical, legal, and professional standards in counseling; psychopathology: diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders; counseling theories for professional counselors; and clinical appraisal and diagnostic evaluation in counseling.
The program also includes clinical theology coursework and specialization courses such as integrative theology for counselors; trauma, crisis, and theology in the developmental context; psychopharmacology; abnormal human behavior: case conceptualization and treatment planning; and professional orientation in clinical mental health counseling. Students also complete applied lab, ethics, and treatment planning, counseling practicum, and two counseling internships.
Admission requirements include a completed graduate application, official transcripts, and a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants with a 2.75 GPA in their last 60 hours may be considered for probationary admission if they meet all other requirements. A successful interview, an essay, and student orientation are also required.
LeTourneau University is located in Longview, Texas. It is a private interdenominational evangelical Christian university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the master of arts in clinical mental health counseling is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
