Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Online Counseling Programs
Our Lady of the Lake University, also known as OLLU, offers online counseling programs in clinical mental health counseling, clinical rehabilitation counseling, and school counseling. These programs are part of the master of arts in counseling (MAC) and are designed for students who want flexible online study with a clear professional focus.
The master of arts in counseling program is fully online and includes both asynchronous and synchronous courses in a 14-week format. Each specialization includes field-based experiences through practicum and internship courses at approved sites. The program also emphasizes inclusiveness, diversity, accessibility, social justice, and the personal, professional, and spiritual development of students.
The clinical mental health counseling specialization is designed for students who want to work with clients of all ages and cultures in private practice, agencies, government settings, or community organizations. The curriculum includes professional orientation and ethics; assessment and appraisal; clinical diagnosis; counseling theories; multicultural counseling; and counseling practicum, along with internship courses. It prepares students to identify, assess, and address mental health symptoms using DSM criteria and to begin the process toward licensure in many states.
The clinical rehabilitation counseling specialization prepares students to support people with disabilities and complex diagnoses as they work toward healthy and independent lives. Students study rehabilitation service delivery and case management; medical and psychosocial aspects of disability; introduction to clinical rehabilitation counseling; and clinical rehabilitation counseling practicum and internship courses. The program focuses on advocacy, empowerment, and working with medical and other helping professionals.
The school counseling specialization is designed for those who want to serve students in primary and secondary school settings. It focuses on social, academic, emotional, and career development, and it includes professional school counseling services: implementation and evaluation; child and adolescent counseling; professional orientation: school counseling; and school counseling internship courses. The program also follows the ASCA National Model and prepares students to support diverse student populations in school environments.
Admission requirements include a completed application, an undergraduate degree, a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges or universities attended, a current resume, a background check, a personal statement, and a reference form. No entrance exams are required. The program also notes that supervision for internship experiences will be required before licensure approval.
