Pentecostal Theological Seminary Online Master’s in Counseling
Pentecostal Theological Seminary offers online graduate counseling degrees in clinical mental health counseling and pastoral counseling. Both programs are designed for students who want counseling training grounded in Christian faith and ministry.
The seminary’s counseling programs combine professional counseling study with spiritual formation and biblical integration. Students are prepared to work in church, mental health, and faith-based community settings, and the programs include practicum-based learning to connect coursework with real ministry and counseling work.
The master of arts in clinical mental health counseling is a 60-credit program that prepares students for certification and licensure. It includes courses such as mental health diagnosis and abnormal psychology in counseling; counseling skills; counseling and the bible; professional issues and ethics in counseling; trauma and crisis counseling; and clinical counseling internship. The program also includes training in diagnosis, assessment, psychopharmacology, addiction, family counseling, and spirituality in mental health counseling.
The master of arts in pastoral counseling is a 36-credit program designed to equip ministers with counseling skills for church and faith-based community settings. Important courses include pastoral counseling; counseling skills; counseling and the bible; religion, spirituality, and mental health in counseling; trauma and crisis counseling; and the pastoral counseling capstone and practicum. The program also includes Bible and theology electives and focuses on helping students minister to the complex needs of congregations and communities.
Admission requires a completed baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, meeting the seminary’s minimum acceptable GPA, and participation in an interview with counseling faculty. The seminary also looks for evidence of academic ability and spiritual maturity, including a sense of calling, ministry experience, and dedication to Christian service.
Pentecostal Theological Seminary is located in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is institutionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the master of arts in clinical mental health counseling is accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
